The 25th edition of JOBIM (Journées Ouvertes en Biologie, Informatique et Mathématiques - Open Days in Biology, Computer Science, and Mathematics) will take place in Bordeaux from July 8 to 11, 2025. This annual conference is the key gathering of the French bioinformatics community, fostering discussions at the intersection of biology, computer science and mathematics.
For this special edition, we are excited to welcome six exceptional invited speakers:
- Anamaria Necsulea (CNRS Lyon) – Evolutionary Genomics and Phylogeny
- Björn Grüning (University of Freiburg) – Workflows, Reproducibility, and Open Science
- Simona Cocco (CNRS ENS Paris) – Structural Bioinformatics and Proteomics
- Emma Schymanski (University of Luxembourg) – Metabolomics Data Processing and Integration; Statistics
- Eric Rivals (CNRS Montpellier) – Methods and Algorithms for Sequences
- Jean Monlong (INSERM Toulouse) – Functional and Integrative Genomics
Topics of Interest (including but not limited to):
- Structural and Proteomics Bioinformatics
- System Biology
- Phylogeny and Evolutionary Genomics
- Functional and Integrative Genomics
- Metagenomics, Metatranscriptomics, Microbial Ecosystems
- Methods and Algorithms for sequences
- Knowledge Representation, Visualization and Databases
- Statistics, Machine Learning and AI for biology and health
- Metabolomics Data Processing and Integration
- Workflows, Reproductibility and Open Science

Types of Contributions
Long Contributions
- Long paper + PCI (≥ 4 pages) – Original research, considered for publication in PCI Genomics or PCI Mathematical and Computational Biology
- Long paper (4–5 pages) – Original research (simultaneous or later submission to a journal or conference allowed)
- Platform and services paper (2–5 pages) – Focused on platform or service activities
- Highlight (max 2 pages) – Presentation of an article published in 2024 (or early 2025), emphasizing its relevance to the JOBIM community
Short Contributions
- Poster (max 1 page) – Ongoing work or recent contributions, published or unpublished; or showcase of platform or service activities
- Demo (max 1 page) – Description of a software, database, pipeline/workflow, to be showcased at the conference
Submission Guidelines
- All submissions must be written in English.
- At least one author of each accepted contribution must attend the conference in person.
- Detailed guidelines are available on the conference website: https://jobim2025.labri.fr/ and the templates for submission can be found here.
Long Paper + PCI Evaluation Process
- Initial verification by PCI scientific committees to ensure scope alignment with PCI Genomics or PCI Mathematical and Computational Biology.
- Search for a PCI recommender within the JOBIM Program Committee.
- If a PCI recommender is identified, the paper undergoes JOBIM + PCI evaluation. Otherwise, it will be evaluated as a regular JOBIM long paper.
Long Paper Publication Options
- Authors can choose whether their article is fully published in the proceedings or only the abstract (to allow future resubmission to a journal or conference).
- If a long paper is not selected for oral presentation, it will be automatically accepted as a poster (authors can then submit an abstract for the proceedings).
SFBI Awards
As in previous editions, SFBI will recognize outstanding work with awards for the best oral presentations and posters by young scientists. To participate, simply indicate your application when submitting your abstract.
